Meyerton Scuba recently hosted 1 Star qualification dives for our new members at Bass Lake, giving students the opportunity to take the next major step in their scuba training. Moving from training environments into open water is a significant moment for any diver, and Bass Lake provided the ideal setting for our members to put their skills into practice in a real-world diving environment.

Throughout the day, divers worked through the practical elements required for their qualification while continuing to build confidence underwater. Skills such as buoyancy control, underwater communication, mask clearing, regulator recovery, and general dive awareness all form part of becoming a safe, capable, and comfortable diver. Under the guidance of instructors, each student had the opportunity to strengthen these core skills while gaining valuable open water experience.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Completing 1 Star qualification dives is a meaningful achievement and an exciting point in every diver’s journey. It reflects dedication, focus, discipline, and the willingness to grow in both skill and confidence beneath the surface.

Beyond the qualification itself, the experience at Bass Lake was also about enjoying the environment, working together as a group, and taking in the rewarding feeling that comes with progressing in the sport. These dives are often some of the most memorable in a diver’s training, as they represent the transition from learning the basics to truly beginning the adventure of scuba diving.
